For Immediate ReleaseA SQUARE MILE OF COMEDY Here's an evening worth chuckling about. On Friday November 10, several members of the Mile Square Toastmasters will be performing standup comedy at the Triad Club in New York City. Honing their talents not just from speech projects but also through a unique Comics' Studio workshop, the performers will each have five to seven minutes to dish out the laughs. "It's something that hasn't been tried in any of the District [Toastmasters] clubs," notes Peter Ward, VP of Education for the Mile Square Toastmasters. "I don't even know of any clubs outside the district that have done this". The newly-minted comics will include Ki Yamaguchi, Christine Toes, Eileen Budd, Joni Heimerl, and Peter Ward. The group has been studying standup under Tommy Koenig, veteran comedian, actor, and founder of Manhattan's Comics' Studio (http://www.comedyclass.com/). “My job," Koenig intimates "is to help students find their own style of humor--their own comedic 'voices'. It's a skill that benefits not only the aspiring comedian, but anyone who wants to use humor to communicate more effectively." This event, which was organized by Peter Ward, is open to friends, family, coworkers, Toastmasters, and any other interested observers. Come along not just to share in the guffaws, but also to see how you might benefit from this workshop--or from joining the Mile Square Toastmasters club. The Triad is at 158 West 72nd Street, Manhattan, NY [(212)362-2590]. Admission is $10.00, and show time is 10:00 PM. Contact Peter Ward at (201)927-4238, or venture to http://www.milesquare.org for more details. |
